California is an agricultural powerhouse, leading the nation in both total and diversity of production.
However, as climate change increasingly threatens agricultural production, there is ample reason for concern about food security in California and around the world. I explain more about these issues in the video below.
Managing lands in a manner that reflects the changing climate and maintains productive agriculture is a worldwide challenge.
California can and should be a leader in solutions.
This is why DOC and U.C. Davis are hosting a symposium entitled “Managing Lands in a Changing Climate to Improve Agricultural Resilience, Food Security and Health” September 10 at the Mondavi Center in Davis.
We’re convening an international group of policymakers and change leaders from government, academia, and concerned organizations.
Agricultural resilience is one key to ensuring food security in a changing climate. And resilience starts with protecting farmland. I invite you to explore this issue in greater detail through my opinion piece in the Davis Enterprise.
