CalGEM Public Workshops Provide Opportunity to Learn About State Oil and Gas Data Tools

On April 27, 28, and 29, 2021, the California Geologic Energy Management (CalGEM) Division hosted a series of virtual workshops to help the public gain a better understanding of state oil and gas online data portals.

Three CalGEM Data Tools Covered

CalGEM Data Management and Geographic Information System (GIS) staff delivered step-by-step demonstrations of three key data tools: WellSTAR, WellSTAR Data Dashboard, and Well Finder. Hosted on Microsoft Teams Live, nearly 300 people in attended the workshops and raised many technical questions. Attendees included legislators, environmental justice advocates, industry representatives, and community members.

Online, and open to the public, these CalGEM learning workshops will be offered three times a year – spring, summer, and fall. This was the spring series. Stay tuned to see when the summer and fall series of CalGEM data virtual workshops will be scheduled.
